Confidence

In my whole career as a personal trainer, hypnotherapist and life coach, I have to say that lack of confidence is an issue most of my clients have claimed to have had or always had.

Statements like “I have no confidence”, “it’s who I am”, “I’ll never have confidence” have all been used to describe how they feel about their levels of confidence.

If you’re stating that you have no confidence, never will have and can’t change it, then chances are, like a self-fulfilling prophecy, you won’t and can’t!!

The first step to making change is fully accepting the knowledge that you can change. Belief in yourself is essential! The belief that you can achieve anything. And you can. You can do and be anything that you want to be. That includes confident!

Once you realise what confidence is, you’ll realise just how easy it is to build it. I suffered from a lack of confidence in my youth and once I realised what it was, I knew then that I could change. Here’s the big secret….

Confidence is self-talk! That’s it! It’s how we talk to ourselves. The more you tell yourself that you are confident the more confident you will be.

Here’s a little exercise for you to do.
Probably not in your busy office at work
  • Sit and tell yourself what you normally do about your confidence levels. Say it out loud. How does this feel?
  • Now stand up, head high and say this like you mean it “I am confident, so confident that I can be anything I want, do anything I want!” How did that feel?

I know that the later felt better. Now that you’re armed with the knowledge that you can boost your confidence, what level are you going to take it to next?
