Donna Dawson, my Journey
My name is Donna, I am 46 years old. I’m a mother of two amazing teenage sons, aged 16 & 20. I am a Health & Weight Loss Coach
I believe it’s important to know a little about your trainer or coach before you work with them. It definitely helps with building initial rapport & trust, which are essential in the coaching journey.
The relationship that you’ll have with your coach will be a close one, so you have to get on and like each other. You’ll have a mutually respectful & honest partnership based on trust. With these in place, you can go on to achieve amazing things!
There are many fantastic coaches out there, but if you want one who is truly passionate about getting you what you want from life, brimming with positivity and motivation, overflowing with natural empathy and intuition, I could be the coach for you! My passion is to help others find true, grounded happiness. To help them learn to love themselves from the inside out. My mission is to help as many wonderful people on this planet to achieve this.
I’m a 46 year old single mother of two fabulous teenage sons. I grew up in Croydon, Surrey and when I left school I studied fashion design. Although it satisfied my creative side, it never fed my soul or felt like my passion.
I’ve experienced bullying at various stages of my youth and young adulthood and as a result I lost my confidence, I suffered agoraphobia, developed a crippling stammer and battled with chronic depression.
I’ve been at rock bottom several times in my life and I’ve always had the ability to pull myself out, brush myself down and move on upwards. My positivity was always my saviour and my strength. No matter how bad life gets, it can always get better!
I believe every negative has a big positive attached to it. I’ve gained such valuable and wonderful lessons in my life and they’ve all helped me be the person I am today. They’ve led me to the work that I do and love, and they’ve led me to have belief in the amazing things that human beings are capable of.
I believe that within reason, you can achieve anything that you want to achieve. I believe that we always have choices, and it’s the choices that we make that determine our level of happiness.
I finally found my passion when I was at an all time low 15 years ago. I was left to bring up my sons by myself when they were aged just one and four and a half.
For my own sanity I joined a gym weighing just 7st 7lb and with a bodyfat reading of just 9%. My stress levels were maxed out, self-esteem low, confidence non-existent but I found exercising really helped.
I found that exercising had a knock on effect on my total well being. I achieved great results and this boosted my confidence.
Humans have a basic need to move forwards, so the physical act of gaining fitness and strength pushed me to move forwards mentally, emotionally and spiritually also.
Because of the physique I had developed, strangers in the gym began asking me advice on training tips. When gym members became demotivated & wanted to stop training, I wrote them gym programs and several people suggested that I’d make a great personal trainer. I then enrolled on a course, got my insurance and the rest was history as they say.
I had finally found my passion. I loved helping others achieve their fitness & weight loss goals and seeing their sparkle return and their confidence grow. I realised very quickly that 90% of the time, diet & exercise just wasn’t enough to help people. Their issues were far deeper. So I trained as a hypnotherapist and enrolled on a counselling course. Then came my intunement to be a level 2 Reiki practitioner.
I still don’t know quite how I did the next step, but all I know is that I felt driven, totally focused and 100% passionate. I set up a private ladies only fitness studio. I concentrated on motivating women, encouraged positive thinking, goal setting and achieving and confidence building. I found that I’d become a natural life coach. For me, coaching is the missing link to losing weight permanently. Coaching is the element that will make you take full responsibility, change your mindset & retrain your habits.
I wanted to be the best coach that I could be, so I enrolled on on a coaching diploma course to increase my knowledge and skills. It gave me a lot of great tools to assist me on my journey as a coach. And has added to my journey of learning about myself. Someone said to me once “Donna, you were born to coach!” How right they were. It’s what I’m here for on this planet, in this life.
After five years running The Elixir Rooms fitness studio & therapy centre, I closed it’s doors & went on to open new ones. Weight loss is now my primary focus. It’s an enormous & fascinating subject that I never stop learning about. Diet & exercise are the mere tip of the iceburg. It’s the enormous expanse below the tip where the work needs to be done. That’s where my Elixir Inside Out Program comes in. I’ve successfully helped many people from all ages & walks of life to achieve their goals & maintain them.
I believe in you, all you have to do is believe in you also.
Believe you can, and you will!
